Page 35 of Beyond Reckless (Lost Kings MC 8)
âNope.â
âWhy?â
âWasnât in the mood.â If only she knew itâd been even longer than that.
Finally, her embarrassment is overtaken by her curiosity and the sass I love about her returns. âWhat are you trying to tell me? Youâll look back and remember me as the one who put the snap back in your turtle?â
I donât laugh at the silly way she puts it. Because sheâs implying there will be other women after her. Which is crazy.
Thereâs no future for me that doesnât include her.
I wrap my hands around her upper arms and squeeze gently to get her attention. âNo. Iâll tell our kids their mom brought my dick back to life.â
Her jaw drops and she sucks in a breath while she absorbs the meaning behind my words. Then another teasing smile lights up her face. âThat seems a little inappropriate.â
I trace my fingers over her cheek. âIâm a whole lot of inappropriate.â
âMarcel?â
Cupping the back of her head with my hand, I pull her down for a rough kiss. âI love you, Sunshine.â
She sucks in a deep breath. âWhy sunshine? Iâm not blonde.â
Laughter flows out of me at the unexpected question. The answer pops in my head and my laughter fades. My words are serious as I explain, âYouâre my sunshine. Your light has a way of reaching into even the darkest parts of me.â I take her hand and place it over my heart. âHas reached the darkest parts.â
âMarcel,â she whispers. âThereâs nothing dark about you. Youâre such a good man. I have trouble believing youâre real sometimes.â
âIâm as real as it gets.â I cock my head. âYouâve witnessed first hand what an asshole I can be.â
She slips her arms around my neck and leans down to kiss me. âI love you too.â Her kisses turn deeper. Hungrier. âI never expected to feel this way about anyone.â
Neither did I. Because any feelings I thought were love in the past canât compare to what I feel for Charlotte. Figured my brothers who turned into fuckinâ teddy bears around their women were flawed somehow. Now, itâs clear. I was the one who was flawed.
Incomplete without her.
She keeps kissing me, throwing her whole body into it, rubbing herself against me. Practically panting, I pull away and reach under her dress to grab her underwear, ripping it, shredding it until it falls to the floor.
âI wouldâve taken them off.â
I growl and hook my fingers in the belt around her waist, loosening it and tossing it aside. She sits back and undoes my belt and lowers my zipper, freeing me.
âGet over here.â My hands grip her ass cheeks, lifting her, so my cock grazes her slick lips. That small touch has her moaning and grabbing my shoulders for leverage. I slip my hand between us, rubbing two fingers over her slit.
âPlease,â she begs.
Iâm ready to explode, still I flash an evil grin. âPlease what?â
âGive me your cock.â
Considering sheâd been blushing five minutes ago when she told me she was ready to go bareback, the bold request makes me chuckle. âTake it, Sunshine.â
I slide down, giving her more room and she eases herself onto my throbbing dick.
Christ, sheâs fucking hot, slick, tight, wet. Jesus, every fucking sensation is a million times stronger like this. She doesnât stop until sheâs taken all of me, gasping when Iâm balls deep inside her. Her fingers dig into my shoulders as she slowly slides herself up and down.
âI need your tits in my hands,â I grumble, pawing at her dress. Trying to figure out how the fuck to get it off. She reaches under her arm and slides a hidden zipper down. She lowers the top of the dress. âOh, thatâs even better, dirty girl.â My hands work her bra loose, and it drops to the floor.
âGrind that pussy against me when you come down,â I mumble against her breast, sucking her nipple into my mouth. My free hand grasps her hip, guiding her movements.
Her breath stutters. I move my hand between her legs, rubbing her clit.
âOhh.â She squeezes her eyes shut. âYes, yes. There.â
Her whole body quivers, pussy tightening around my cock and Iâd love to hold out. Take her into the bedroom to work out that new mattress, but all her tight, slick heat undoes me. She hangs on, clinging to me, kissing my neck, my chest and finally my lips.
I press my palms against her cheeks and kiss her hard. âWanted to get you in that bed.â
âYouâll be ready to go again in a few minutes.â
My mouth twists into a wide grin. âLove your faith in me.â
Gingerly, she extracts herself from my lap, wincing at the mess weâve made. âGuess I owe you a new couch too.â
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
The new bed sleeps amazing. I wake the next morning snuggled in Marcelâs arms and turn to face him.
âSleep okay?â he asks with a cocky twist to his lips.
My alarm goes off and I groan. Mentally, Iâm running over my calendar for the day, assessing whether I can move around some appointments so I can stay in bed with Marcel all day.
He rolls away and grabs my phone, silencing the alarm. âShit, I have to get going.â
âYouâre leaving?â
He presses a kiss to my forehead before throwing back the sheet and stretching. âGod, youâre beautiful,â I murmur, trailing my hand down his chest.
âBeautiful, huh?â
âA work of art,â I amend.
He chuckles, but a few seconds later his face pinches when I run my fingers over the scars on his leg and hip. âIâm sorry. Does it hurt?â
âNah.â He sits up, throwing his legs over the side of the bed and I snuggle up behind him, wrapping my arms around his waist and resting my cheek against his shoulder blades. His hand runs over my arms a few times. âYou all right?â
âYes, Iâm figuring out what to cancel so we can stay in bed all day.â
He turns, glancing at me over his shoulder. âI canât.â
âOh, okay.â
We did say I love you last night, right?
I wait for him to elaborate, but he stands. âNeed to find my clothes, Sunshine. Your greedy little hands stripped them off all over the house.â He stares at me. âWhatâs wrong?â
âNothing.â
He sighs. âI need to get up to the clubhouse. Some of the guys are going on a run and I promised Heidi and Murphy Iâd watch Alexa so they could go.â
âOh, why didnât you just say that?â
He lifts one shoulder. âTheyâre not coming back until Sunday, so Iâm going to be tied up with that. Didnât want you thinking, hell, I donât know.â
âYou can bring her here.â The intensity in his eyes is too much for this hour so I turn away. âIf you want to.â
âI can take care of her.â He runs his fingers through his hair, so itâs sticking up everywhere. âI didnât want you to think I was being all âhere, watch this baby for me, woman.ââ
I snort, then full-on giggle. âI want to see you. So, you come with a baby this week. Thatâs okay. I think itâs sweet youâre doing that for them.â
âYeah, itâs good timing too because I plan to get a few things done for them at their house before they get back. Itâll be easier without Murphy there to bitch about me helping out.â
My heart squeezes from the affection in his voice when he talks about his sister and best friend.
âI love how you show up right at the last minute, you fucker,â Murphy growls as soon as he sees me.
âSorry.â
His hand lands on my shoulder, squeezing tight. âYou sure youâre all right with this?â
I shake him off with a quick jerk of my arm. âYes. I was at Charlotteâs.â
Finally, he lightens up. âFigured.â
Everyoneâs waiting in front of the clubhouse except Heidi, Hope, and Trinity.
âWhereâre the girls at?â
âHopeâs utter lack of respect for time is infe
ctious,â Wrath grumbles, earning a smack from Rock.
Z taps my shoulder. âThe stoner twins are taking care of the dogs.â He rolls his eyes. âBut Iâd feel better if an actual, functional adult checked on them.â
âNo problem.â
âYou still stopping at Swayâs?â I ask Rock.
His jaw tightens and he nods. âYeah, but he decided to join us.â
âOh, Christ. You didnât tell me that,â Wrath bitches.
Rock chuckles. âNow you know.â
Heidi emerges from the woods with Alexa on her hip. Alexaâs babbling a mile a minute, waving her tiny fists around. âOh, youâre here!â My sister almost sounds disappointed.
âYou good?â Murphy asks her.
Her eyes gloss over but she nods. âIâve never been away from her this long,â she whispers.
I hold out my hands and Alexa squeals when she sees me, reaching for me to take her. âSomeoneâs a happy baby this morning,â I say, pressing kisses to both chubby little cheeks.
âShe is,â Heidi agrees. âMakes it even harder to leave.â
âSheâll be fine. I may take her down to Charlotteâs later tonight. That okay with you?â
âSure.â
âDoes Charlotte know this?â Murphy asks with a sarcastic edge.
âYes, jackass.â
Heidi taps my arm to take my attention away from Murphy. âAll her travel stuff is in the closet in her room.â She lists a number of things, ticking each one off on her fingers until she runs out of fingers.
âHeidi, Iâve watched her before. Iâll be fine.â
âSheâs slept through the night for the last week or so. Her scheduleâs on the counter.â
âShe has a schedule?â
âYes, she has a schedule. Thereâs enough formula andââ
âHeidi, weâll be fine. Promise. I have taken care of babies before.â
She glances at Rock. âI know. Besides Hope and Rock, youâre the only one we trust.â
We. Shit, I love these two. âCome here.â I hug her to my side with my free arm. âTry to have some fun, okay?â
Hope and Trinity stroll out of the woods and Wrath mutters, âFinally.â
Heidi holds out her arms for Alexa and while sheâs getting one last dose of baby snuggles, I take Murphy aside. âBe careful.â
âAlways, brother.â
âAnd for fuckâs sake, donât knock my sister up.â
He shakes with laughter. âYou realize we sleep together every night, right?â
I gag and throw my fist into his bicep. âYeah, well, donât get amnesia while youâre away from Alexa.â
He laughs even harder.
âHey, seriously though. I got Jasper coming up with his crew to pour that cement this week. So hopefully when you get backââ
âWait, what? When did you arrange that?â
The corners of my mouth twist into a smirk. âDonât worry about it.â
âTeller, you donât need toââ
âItâs my gift to my sister. Iâm still allowed to give her shit, right?â
Finally he nods, realizing itâs happening one way or another.
âThanks, brother.â He pulls me in for a hug.
Wrathâs straddling his bike, threatening to leave the rest of them behind if they donât move. Heidi hands Alexa to me. âSheâll go down for her nap inââ
âI got it. Headed to the house to get her schedule right after you guys clear out.â
âYouâre staying at our place with her, right?â Rock says, sounding more like heâs giving an order than asking a question. âDonât stress her out with too many changes at once.â
Hope brushes up against him leaning in to kiss Alexaâs cheek. âBye, baby. Weâre going to miss you.â
Alexa squeals and grabs for Hope. âAw, let me have her.â She cuddles Alexa for a few minutes.
âThere are clean linens and stuff in the downstairs bathroom,â she says to me.
Murphy and Heidi currently occupy the only guest room at Rock and Hopeâs place. Clean sheets or not, the idea of sleeping in Heidi and Murphyâs bed is pretty damn unappealing.
Unwilling to admit that, I just thank her.
âYouâre welcome to bring Charlotte up if you want to,â she offers.
âThanks.â
Zâs taken up the âletâs goâ chant and I seem to be the one holding everyone up.
âIâm going in. Shiny side up, Prez.â He gives me a fist bump and I say goodbye to everyone before heading inside.
The clubhouse living room isnât far enough away to escape the deep rumbling of multiple bikes out in the parking lot. Alexa starts screaming immediately.
âNo, no, no. Itâs fine. Youâre okay,â I coo at her.
Sheâs not having it.
Even when the last bike has cleared the parking lot, sheâs still wailing.
Sparky pokes his head out of the basement door. âWhatâs going on?â
âEveryone just left. Sheâll settle down in a minute.â
âAw, poor Alexa. Come see Uncle Sparky.â
He takes her for a second and she tosses her head from side to side, screaming even louder.
âI donât think she likes the smell of the plants,â he says handing her back to me. âGood luck with that.â
âThanks.â
What feels like an hour later Iâm about to rip my hair out. Fuck if I donât have a whole new appreciation for my sister.
âChrist, Murphy must love her if he voluntarily puts up with this on a daily basis,â I mutter.
Nothing has appeased Alexa. Not books, fluffy toys, food, diaper changes. Nothing.
Abruptly she stops crying and closes her eyes.
âFinally tire yourself out?â I grab a washcloth and wipe her damp cheeks before settling her down in her crib. Heidiâs notes said she should be out for about two hours. Since I think Iâve got a long week ahead of me, I head out to the living room and stretch out on the sofa for my own nap.
I expect to find Marcel and his niece at my apartment when I get home from work. But my place is empty.
Well, we didnât make plans exactly. Maybe he meant heâd bring her over later.
After changing out of my work clothes and throwing my hair into a sloppy ponytail, I say fuck it, and call him.
âHey, were you coming over tonight?â
In the background, thereâs happy yelling and babbling.
âActually, Iâm trying to get her ready for bed.â He sounds pretty stressed so I try to keep the disappointment out of my voice.
âOkay.â
He chuckles. âHeidi left me a lengthy schedule. Seven is when we start her bedtime routine, whatever the fuck that is.â
I laugh. âBabies need routine or they get cranky.â
On the other end, he blows out a frustrated breath. âShe already had one epic hissy fit when everyone left. Sheâs been fine since, but she keeps watching the front door. I hope she doesnât freak out when she realizes Heidiâs not coming home.â
Inside, Iâm a puddle of goo at the way he talks about his baby niece. Seriously, my ovaries are setting off goddamn fireworks listening to him. Iâm not sure how to explain I figured he might need some help and managed to clear my afternoons and take Friday off completely without sounding like a weirdo.
âIâll be home early tomorrow if you want to come over?â
âAre you sure? She looks, cute, but Iâm warning you, sheâs gotta be at least fifteen percent evil.â
I burst out laughing. âI doubt that.â
âSee you tomorrow.â
The next day Iâm home by three and try to give my place a quick baby-proofing. About an hour later Iâm sitting out on the front steps when Marcel shows up with Alexa in her stroller. Heâs loaded down with baby stuff and I cover my mouth to hide my laughter.
âGoing on a trip?â I tease.
âI swear. This kid has more stuff.â He grins as I stand, staying on the second step
from the bottom so weâre at about eye-level.
âHow did you two get along today?â
âGood actually. She was a little fussy when she woke up, but since then sheâs been all smiles.â
âAny of your brothers stay behind?â
He snorts. âNone of the useful ones. Bricks has kids, but he and his family live down in Empire. Dex is pretty good with her, but heâs busy running Crystal Ball.â
âToo bad youâre not single. Babies are chick magnets.â
He growls and wraps his arms around my waist, lifting me off the step. âDonât want to attract any chicks except you.â He spins us in a circle before setting me down on the sidewalk.
Alexa sings out, âYa, ya, yaâ and waves her hands in the air.
âCan I say hello?â
âYeah, go ahead.â
Crouching down, I peer in the stroller and canât help smiling. âDid you dress her?â The pink romper sheâs wearing has deer frolicking all over it and ruffles around the legs. But itâs the matching stretchy-headband that makes me laugh the hardest.
âThis kid has more clothes,â he says.
âI canât lie. I fully expected you to dress her in camouflage.â
He shrugs.
âYa ya, ba ba, bee bee,â Alexa belts out.
In the voice I use with my young clients, I babble back the same sounds. Alexa flails her arms and produces more happy little noises.
âYou speak baby?â Teller asks.
âLittle bit.â
He glances from the stroller to the gear. âDo you want me to take her out of the stroller for you?â I offer.
âDo you mind?â
âNot at all.â
âCome on, Alexa,â I coo. âLet your uncle carry all your luggage inside.â
She settles against me, lightly touching my cheek with her little fingers and babbling.
âSheâs such a happy baby,â I say once weâre inside.
âShe wasnât yesterday.â He sets her stuff down, but takes one of the bags and starts setting up a baby prison. âIâm just glad Heidi didnât see her freak out. She was having a hard enough time leaving.â
Yup, Iâm done. A puddle of mush over the concern he shows for his sister and his niece.
While heâs setting her stuff up, I drop onto the couch and pick up a magazine, flipping through it with Alexa. She helps by slapping the pages and squeals when I point different things out to her.
