‘Such as?’

‘Too many to list, but off the top of my head: genetics, biophysics, cytology, biotechnology, virology, bacteriology, protozoology, mycology, toxicology, pathology, some of the zoology disciplines.’

A junior doctor poked his head around the corner.

‘What is it, Ben?’ Doctor Mukherjee asked.

‘It’s time,’ Ben replied.

Mukherjee eased himself out of the chair. ‘Do you want to come, Sergeant Poe?’

‘What’s happening?’

‘Karen Royal-Cross is about to die.’
